Video is everywhere these days. It is more engaging than text on a web page, it's more shareable, it creates stronger consumer attention and viewers are more likely to have a greater emotional connection with video content and therefore your organisation or brand.
Sites like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter are bursting with video and, statistics suggest more than 80 per cent of web traffic is now video related. There’ll always be occasions when you’ll need the services of an expert production company, but for day-to-day video content, you’d be surprised by what you can achieve with just a smartphone.

About the course leader
Hi, I am Andy Carter, a former broadcast journalist with almost two decades of experience. I started in newspapers, but moved to radio quickly. I had spells at the BBC and Sky News before moving into PR and communications.
I was head of communications at Leeds City Council and director of comms at Northumbria University before setting up my own consultancy. My clients are in the public, private and third-sectors.
I’ve been using video in my work for many years. Several of my clients seem to be doing less and less written comms and more and more video. I’ve been running the smartphone-specific video course for almost four years. I’ve trained more than 400 people in that time.
