At a time of financial constraint, it has never been more important for communications teams to prove their worth. If we can’t do this then we become more susceptible to budget cuts.

Find out through this Ideas Exchange how you can use Research and Insight to help inform and evaluate your communications strategy and campaigns in a way that will demonstrate the value of what you do to senior management and leaders.

The Ideas Exchange, which will include informal drinks and canapes, will be designed in two parts to help you get the most out of the evening.

Firstly, we will look at how you can you can use research and insight to evaluate the effectiveness of your channels and build greater understanding of the audiences you are trying to reach. We will be sharing the findings from our 'London media survey' to give you intelligence on the issues that impact on trust and reputation.

The second part of the evening will focus on how to use insight to help evaluate the performance of your campaigns and major communication plans, including how to quickly extract quantitative data for timely reporting in a way that monitors success and demonstrates value. 

The presentations will be followed by networking with drinks.


Marcus Chrysostomou (Welcome) – Vice Chair of LG Comms and Westco Account Director:

Marcus Chrysostomou is a Senior Account Director at Westco. He has over 20 years of experience in communications and has worked in the Downing Street Press office, the Central Office of Information, Kent County Council and the private sector. At Westco, he has worked with a number of clients either in Head of Communication roles or doing bespoke projects. This includes Waltham Forest, CityWest Homes, Kent Fire and Rescue and Havering Council.

He is also Vice Chair of LG Comms, which is a national body made up of an association of authorities that works to raise the standard of communications in local government. He has also just been voted on to the PRCA PR and Communications Council, which provides a formal mechanism to consult with the industry's most senior practitioners on the issues PR and communications faces.

Caroline Roper – Westco Executive Research Director: 

Caroline has previously worked in the social research division at GfK (now Ipsos), one of the top 10 market research agencies in the UK. Caroline has a background in communications and campaigns research, and has worked on behalf of many local authority clients, as well as central government campaigns on behalf of the NHS, Home Office, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and DEFRA. 

Jen Compton - Westco Research Director:

Jen Compton has over 10 years’ experience in market research and supports Westco client’s research and engagement programmes. Since joining Westco in 2006, Jen has worked with numerous local authorities and built up in-depth knowledge on the issues councils face. She has worked across topics including communications and engagement, reputation, service provision and monitoring, housing, environmental and social services, and disciplines including questionnaire design, surveys, focus groups, market testing and online communities.
