Media Manager, Westco Communications

Are you a media professional with sharp news sense, excellent political awareness, and a passion for shaping stories that matter?
We are looking for a Media Manager to join one of our high-performing communications teams. You will be someone who is ready to protect and enhance our client’s reputation, drive high-quality media engagement, and help us communicate clearly with the communities we and they serve.
About the role
As our new Media Manager, you will play a central role in:
- Leading proactive and reactive media handling
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, stakeholders and partners
- Supporting delivery of high-profile campaigns and narrative-driven communications
- Advising senior officers and elected members on sensitive or complex issues
- Developing engaging content across traditional and digital channels
- Helping strengthen our digital presence and expand the reach of our messaging
You will be part of a supportive, fast-paced team working across local, regional and national issues with plenty of space to grow, innovate, and make an impact.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong experience in press/media roles, ideally in a political, public sector or high-profile environment
- Understands how to navigate sensitive or high-risk issues with confidence and good judgment
- Is politically savvy, who keeps up-to-date with the latest policy developments
- Can work calmly under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
- Builds effective relationships and communicates with clarity and impact
- Brings creativity, resilience, and ambition to everything they do
- Is able to work in fast-paced environment juggling multiple deadlines
- Can build trust and confidence at the highest levels, working with senior elected representatives and officers
